Whisky&Water = Story&Life

My brother asked me, “Why Whisky and Water?” I stood there for a while... “I don’t know, it just came to me.” My mum was smiling in the background. She said “You know Poppa’s nickname was Whisky and Water. It was his usual order”. Life flashing moment, as time stood still. One word engulfed me - Family. All my grandparents have passed, yet I feel them with me on some level. Whisky & Water art project developing. As it evolves, I become more connected to my family. My ancestral connection grows somewhat stronger.

Whisky&Water brings welcomed learnings. At times, it halts to a grind, leaving me extremely frustrated. Lessons in what stops it and me, drift to the surface. Slowing down to appreciate its creation has become a valuable foundation. In this space, intuitive wisdom drives this project to new levels.Whisky&Water = Story&Life

LOVE MULLUMBIMBY - RAISING FUNDS FOR THE COMMUNITY

...after a flood that was touted as being 1 in a 1000 year flood, the power of community shone bright the first time, found strength and endurance the second time around. People lost a lot through these floods. 'Love Mullumbimby' too was a print that perished in the flood. Witnessing the gathering of local community, I showed up to Wandana Brewery with this clay soiled framed print, to see if we could help raise funds for the community. With the frame up on the wall in the brewery, we decided to share and sell small prints at the bar. This print too is also available to purchase.

In light of the recent floods in Mullumbimby and all of the Northern Rivers from up in Tweed, down to Ballina and beyond, Wandana Brewery and Warren Fox, are donating all profits from the sale of open edition prints of ‘Love Mullumbimby’, to help raise funds for our good friends at Mullumbimby & District Neighbourhood Centre. An ecosystem of living and breathing elements, stretching over endless kilometers, evolves throughout thousands of years. Seascapes of turbulent white water, slowly sculpt the coastline, as shifting clouds drift through cobalt blue skies. Sands form patterns on tidal planes, as reefs anchor underwater worlds. Rock formations stand tall, like stone guardians to our homeland. Seasons guide us through time, forming a complex web of relationships. A connection that binds us all. The land is a link between aspects of our existence. Spiritual and cultural. One of language. One of family and identity. A premise that enters into your spirit, whilst listening to its heartbeat. Whether it’s the cultural significance of river mouths or the smell of the briny ocean air, it’s an energy that continues, infusing us into its ever-growing story. Simply slowing down to appreciate these gifts, allows one to listen to its whispers. This land and surroundings are a living museum of us and all our ancestors. This recipe gave birth to this project and Whisky & Water is my tribute to it.

drawn to water

'Drawn to Water' is a photo-real collection of illustrations.
That place above and below. That place where the air connects to water.
Turmoil can be peaceful, when abstract light fuses with the ocean's heart.
